What does a typical treatment look like?
Treatments are designed to be effective and relaxing
Treatments are unique to each patient, involving a hands on approach with a combination of acupuncture and a variety of massage techniques.
Getting to the cause of pain often involves evaluating lifestyle, movement patterns, and doing manual work to identify tightness and weakness in the soft tissue.
Treatment should make a change in symptoms and if it does not, we course correct to find the path that will bring the best results.
As someone who has struggled to find results with my own pain, it is a privilege to work alongside patients to help them get back to their best selves.
Together we will look to find the root cause of your symptoms.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient practice that involves using hair thin needles to bring balance to the body for a variety of health conditions.
Acupuncture can be used to release what is tense, bring blood flow where it is needed, and restore function to tissue that has been affected by long standing pain, injury, or other factors.
Along with physical pain, acupuncture can be used to treat the stress that comes along with pain to help address both the mind and the body.
Electroacupuncture (E-Stim)
Electroacupuncture is the use of a low-frequency current applied to the needle in order to stimulate the area of the body it is inserted. Research has show it to relieve pain and help tissue to repair more efficiently.
Do I Dry Needle?
Yes!…I utilize trigger point needling for tight muscles in addition to Chinese medicine theory to incorporate a more holistic approach to simply dry needling alone.
Bodywork / Massage
I utilize Asian bodywork (Tui Na), trigger point massage, and relaxation massage techniques in conjunction with acupuncture to soften the tissue and bring additional relief. When combined with acupuncture, we can make lasting results.
Other bodywork modalities:
Moxibustion: A warming herb used to increase blood flow to promote healing.
Cupping: Glass suction cups comfortably placed on the body to relieve stagnation, draw out the old and bring in the new to help in the healing process.
Gua Sha: A ceramic instrument used to break up adhesions and tight tissue to help relieve pain.
Abdominal Massage: Gentle yet effective massage techniques to treat pain/discomfort in the abdomen.
Patient Education
I believe that our health concerns are not always straight forward. Lifestyle factors such as sleep, how we move, and stress can have a large impact on our symptoms, especially when chronic. I look to help bring awareness to these areas when it suits the patient.
Gaining a holistic view on symptoms and why they are manifesting is most important in long term results and prevention for patients.
Qi Gong
I am passionate about the benefits of movement and enjoy teaching qi gong movements to help restore function to the body and help reduce difficult symptoms patients may be experiencing.
Movement is medicine!
